About me
About Naranja Yoga

Naranja is the Spanish word for orange. It’s a name that carries a lot for me.
In yoga and Hindu tradition, orange is linked to transformation, fire and spiritual depth. It represents letting go. Letting go of ego, of distraction, of what gets in the way of living more consciously. At the same time, it’s the colour of warmth, sunlight and something that feels alive. For me, it also holds joy, lightness and a sense of connection and growth.
Naranja Yoga grew from that feeling. It’s a space where the depth of yoga becomes accessible without losing its roots. A practice that is serious, but never heavy. Grounded in tradition, while staying close to everyday life. A space where you can show up as you are and grow from there.
I’m here to support a way of living that feels lighter, more aware and more connected. To yourself, and to the people around you.
I’m Romy van Sambeek, a yoga teacher, sports scientist, occupational health professional and the person behind Naranja Yoga.
I stepped onto a yoga mat at 19 and have been returning to it ever since. Over the past 20 years, my path has taken me across countries, through years of study, and deeper into the world of movement and wellbeing.
With a background that includes academic training and over 500 hours of yoga teacher education, I bring together traditional yoga and sports science in a way that supports a thoughtful, balanced, and sustainable practice.
I’ve lived and worked in the Netherlands, Germany, Brazil, France and Spain. That life of moving, learning and adapting across cultures has shaped my approach: warm, inviting, curious and always looking for the deeper why.
